Man hurt in road rage incident in Thormanby

Police investigating a road rage incident on the A19 at Thormanby are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The incident occurred at the top of the bank in the village sometime between 6pm and 6.30pm on Thursday 18 August 2011.

A 56-year-old man from Thirsk, who was driving a light blue Citroen Picasso, sustained a cut below his right eye, which required treatment at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton.

A 31-year-old man from York, who was driving a white BMW, has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on police bail as enquiries continue.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information that could help the investigation to get in touch.

PC Peter Henderson, of Thirsk Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

I am appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident to contact the police or Crimestoppers with information.

There was a lot of passing traffic in the area at the time and someone may have seen something that can help with our enquiries.

I would also like to speak to anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the incident occurring.
