B&Q Harrogate’s countdown to the opening

11 August 2011

B&QAfter a month of team bonding, store re-fitting and now daily lorry deliveries, the former Focus DIY store is preparing to open its doors as B&Q Harrogate on Friday, 12th August at 10am.

In the last few weeks we’ve received nearly 15,000 products, we’ve built 16 display kitchens and installed 17 display bathroom suites to ensure the store opens with the best possible range of home improvement and garden products at the best prices.

B&Q’s recent acquisition has created 17 new jobs as well as maintaining 28 staff from the old store.

B&Q is the UK’s largest home improvement and garden centre retailer, offering a huge range of products to help make home improvement easier for customers to create their dream homes. In the last month, the teams have been working together to ensure customers will receive expert advice from people with real experience and practical skills.

Manager Darren Wilde said, “The team, existing and new are excited about the store opening and serving the local community. We’ve had a few weeks to get to know each other and we’re really looking forward to meeting all our new customers.”

“The new team spans several generations from Jake our 16 year old school leaver to our oldest Des who’s 72 and full of beans – they may be different in age but they’ve got one thing in common – they’re passionate about DIY and want to help make it easier for all our customers.”

  1. Hi,

Just wanted to say that its good to see some employees from Focus DIY being taken in to the new B&Q store. I wish them the best of luck after the torrid time they had when Focus went into administration.

    Regards,

    Julian
