10 August 2011

Lancashire Police are appealing for information after an 87 year old woman died after being hit by a car in Kirkham.

She was originally from Yorkshire but had lived in Kirkham for many years.

Gwennie Dean was crossing Poulton Street around 2pm on Monday 8 August, when she was struck by a Nissan Micra.

She was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital with serious injuries, but sadly died around 6am this morning (Tuesday 9 August).

At this time, police have been unable to trace next of kin for Gwennie and are appealing for any family members to contact them.

Sergeant Dave Hogarth said: “Sadly, as yet we haven’t been able to trace any members of Mrs Dean’s family and I would appeal to any family members to contact police. I am also keen to speak with anybody who may be aware of Gwennie’s family history.

“An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing and I would still appeal for anybody who witnessed it to come forward.

Anybody with any information is asked to call police on 08451 25 35 45 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
