Home Instead Senior Care advises elderly residents to “Watch Their Step”

12 July 2011

Home Instead Senior Care a local at-home care company, recently got involved with National Falls Awareness Week by hosting an informative craft event for the residents at Montpellier Court, Harrogate.

National Falls Awareness Week, organised by Age UK is an annual event aimed at raising awareness of dangers in the home to ensure less accidents for older people. This year the theme was ‘watch your step’ which focused on the promotion of good eye health through regular eye checks and tests, wearing the right glasses and making good nutrition and lifestyle choices.

Home Instead flagged these issues at the event itself and offered a wealth of information to the Montpellier Court residents. There was also the chance to make some fun cardboard spectacles decorated with feathers and glitter!

Home Instead owner, Andrew Van Parys commented: “It was great to end the day with everyone making colourful fun glasses as it offered the chance for some fun and games rather than solely focusing on this serious topic. Everyone looked fabulous and we had some great feedback about the information on offer, so I would say the event was a great success!”

Home Instead Senior Care is rapidly building a reputation as one of the UK’s leading care companies. Their service allows older people to continue living in their own homes and is tailored to the needs of individual clients.  It ranges from companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, post-discharge care, personal care, medication reminders, shopping and errands. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
