Yorkshire law firm McCormicks has promoted Helena Jones following her qualification as a solicitor.
Helena, who works in the firm’s busy Private Client department, joined McCormicks in 2009.
Originally from Leeds, she studied History at Durham University before embarking on a career in industry, including a period in marketing for Bang and Olufsen and working as a merchandiser for DCS Europe, the UK market leader in sales and distribution of health, beauty and household brands.
The urge to use her analytical skills led her towards a career in Law and, after completing her studies at the University of Northumbria, she became a Law Costs Draftsman, where she handled Family law issues ranging from non-molestation orders to large adoption cases.
Her aim was still to become a solicitor and she joined McCormicks in 2009, becoming a Trainee Solicitor shortly afterwards and joining the Private Client department.
Helena has a particular interest in a range of Court of Protection, Will and Probate matters and has developed a knowledge of Charity law, having dealt with the creation, incorporation and Charity Commission registration of both regional and national charities whilst also advising existing charities upon tax and regulatory matters.
