30 June 2011

Harrogate police are appealing for the public’s help to identify a woman suspected of stealing from the Co-op.

At around 6.45pm on Wednesday 22 June 2011, the suspect was captured on CCTV entering the Co-op store on Leeds Road, before filling a hand-basket with goods worth around £40 and leaving the store without making any attempt to pay.

Once outside, the suspect got into the passenger seat of a waiting grey Volkswagen Golf and left the scene.

Officers are appealing to anyone who can help identify the woman to come forward with information.

PC Tom Barker, of Harrogate Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The suspect in this case made no attempt to pay for the goods she had selected. She even walked past the tills still carrying the basket, before making off in a waiting vehicle.

“The CCTV images we have obtained show the woman quite clearly, therefore someone should be able to tell us who she is.

“I am urging anyone who can help us identify her to contact the police or Crimestoppers with information.”

Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is urged to contact PC Tom Barker, of Harrogate Safer Neighbourhood Team, on 0845 60 60 24 7, quoting reference number 12110102695.
