Two in custody after York Deanery break-in

Two men are in custody following a at Minster’s Deanery.

Officers were alerted by the Minster after reports that the premises, in Minster Yard, had been entered via a forced rear door at around 5.30pm on Monday 11 April 2011.

As police arrived at the scene the two suspects ran from the property and after a short pursuit, a 39-year-old man was detained outside the Deanery and a 39-year-old man was arrested near Treasurer’s House.

The two men were found to be in possession of property and jewellery and were arrested on suspicion of .

They remain in police custody as enquiries continue.
