Harrogate Clinic Becomes One of First in UK to Invest in NASA Technology

A Harrogate chiropractic clinic has become one of the first in the UK to invest in new technology, originally developed for NASA, that maps pain and detects areas of abnormal function and discomfort.

The technology is being used to help chiropractors at the Family Chiropractic Centre on Leeds Road assess the overall function of the nervous system in their patients to improve the effectiveness of treatment programmes.

Partner Debbie Saxton said “The scanner gives the patient a visual image of their chiropractor’s findings”

“The technology is a massive leap forward for the industry because it allows us to measure a number of factors that combine to give an overall reading on the function of the nervous system,” said Debbie.

“It’s something that has been needed for some time and as well as giving patients a visual image of their chiropractor’s assessment it will allow us to make a more accurate judgement on the best course of care for that patient,” she explained.

The investment is part of a drive by the clinic to improve the overall health of patients through education.

“The centre’s philosophy is to help patients reach their maximum potential for good health and this often means addressing other lifestyle factors,” said Debbie, author of lifestyle guide Complete Lifestyle, which is available nationwide via chiropractic clinics and online.

“The introduction of new scanning technology in conjunction with the availability of detailed information on overall good health will go a long way towards helping chiropractors educate patients in the factors that are preventing them from feeling well.”
