Police seek man suspected of iPad theft from Comet

Police seek Comet thief Harrogate police have released CCTV images of a man suspected of stealing two iPads from Comet.

The suspect entered the store on West Park Street at around 2.55pm on Saturday 5 February 2011, and grabbed the tablets worth around £950, before making off in the direction of Victoria Avenue.

The man was pursued by members of staff from a neighbouring store, but he disappeared from view as he reached Robert Street. After reviewing CCTV footage, officers have identified a man suspected of committing the theft and are urging the public to help trace him.

He is described as white, aged in his 20s, around 5ft 9in tall, with a stocky build. He was wearing a blue hooded-top with white piping on the shoulders, blue jeans, white trainers, a black beeny hat and gloves.

PC Andy Macleod, of Harrogate police, said: “The man suspected of the theft can clearly be seen on the CCTV footage and I am hoping that someone will recognise him and let us know who he is. “If anyone witnessed the incident or can help us identify the offender, I would urge them to contact the police or Crimestoppers with information.”
