Statement from family of tragic crash victim North Yorkshire Police are now in a position to name the 15-year-old girl who was killed as a result of a road traffic at Snainton on Saturday 8 January 2011.

She has been named as Natalia Wiley, aged 15, from Pickering. The family have provided a photograph and a statement and would now request that they are left to deal with their loss in private. She will be missed by all that knew her. “The family would like to thank everyone for their help and support at this difficult time. “We would like to have the time to grieve the loss of Natalia in private.” Investigation update The two men arrested in connection with the collision which led to Natalia’s death have been released on police bail to allow for further investigations into the incident. A 21-year-old man, from Kirkbymoorside, was arrested at the scene of the incident and an 18-year-old man was arrested on Sunday 9 January 2011, following his release from hospital, where he was being treated for minor injuries sustained in the collision.

Witness appeal Police investigating a road traffic collision which killed a teenage girl are appealing for witnesses to help with their enquiries.

A 15-year-old girl from Pickering was pronounced dead at the scene after a blue Vauxhall Corsa she was a passenger in left the road and overturned on the A170 at Snainton, at around 6.30pm on Saturday 8 January 2011. The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man from Pickering was taken to Scarborough District Hospital suffering from slight injuries. He was discharged this morning (Sunday 9 December 2011) and is currently in police custody in connection with the collision. A 21-year-old man from Kirkbymoorside, who was driving a white Ford Fiesta, was arrested at the scene of the incident and is also helping police with their enquiries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact them as a matter of urgency. Traffic Sergeant Neil Campbell, of North Yorkshire Police’s Road Policing Group, said: “It is vital to the investigation that anyone who witnessed the collision gets in touch with the police immediately. “I am particularly interested in speaking to anyone who saw the blue Vauxhall Corsa prior to the collision or a white Ford Fiesta which was travelling in company with it.” The collision occurred on the A170 Pickering to Scarborough road at Snainton, just prior to the junction of the B1258 to Yedingham, on the Pickering side of Chris Hodgson’s car showroom.
