Officers investigating the fire in Birch Grove, Harrogate on 30 December, in which 75-year-old James Kirkpatrick died, have received a preliminary report from fire investigators.
Further investigations are being carried out to determine the exact cause of the fire however from the initial examinations of the scene there appears to be no suspicious circumstances or third party involvement.
An inquest into Mr Kirkpatrick’s death was opened and adjourned yesterday.
