13 July 2018

The historic Aldborough & Boroughbridge Agricultural Show returns to its new home at Newby Hall near Ripon on Sunday 22 July 2018 to celebrate its 105th anniversary.

Billed as an annual celebration of farming and rural life, visitors will be offered a Yorkshire family day out and the opportunity to explore local farming practices as well as see some of the best livestock, vintage vehicles and local produce.

New for 2018 is a daring stunt jousting show courtesy of Knights of the North, as well as an archery and army display and the ever-popular tug of war competition for locals.

Dog, cattle and sheep showing classes will be on offer alongside a heavy horse display and horse and donkey classes. The Grand Ring will play host to spectacular displays and competitions with the children’s races and terrier racing always a huge hit.

Locals will have the chance to show off their talents in an assortment of competitions from baking and flower arranging to handicrafts and horticulture. The craft marquee will display local crafts while the farmer’s market will showcase local produce which will be available to buy. Cream teas will also be available.

A free bus service will run between Boroughbridge and Newby Hall, calling at Minskip, Aldborough, Boroughbridge, Kirby Hill, Langthorpe and Skelton.

Catherine Park Peyton, chair of the Aldborough & Boroughbridge Agricultural Show, commented:

We are thrilled to once again return to Newby Hall which is the perfect setting for our traditional country show. Last year was a huge success with unprecedented numbers of both exhibitors and visitors so we hope that this year will continue to build on this. We are looking forward to seeing even more new faces join our regular visitors to enjoy this fantastic family day out.

Stuart Gill, commercial director at Newby Hall, said:

Here at Newby Hall we are always striving to preserve and promote Yorkshire’s agricultural legacy and we are proud to host the Aldborough & Boroughbridge Show for a second year. We hope that the show will continue to grow year on year and more visitors will be encouraged to attend.
