Lindisfarne launch new line-up with intimate North Yorkshire Show

28 April 2015

Folk rock legends Lindisfarne will launch a new chapter in the band’s career with an ‘up close and intimate’ gig in North Yorkshire this weekend. (Sunday 3 May 2015).

The show at Masham Town Hall will be the first to feature original member Rod Clements since his return to the fold earlier this year.

He was invited back after founder member Ray Jackson announced his retirement in January following the last string of Christmas concerts at Newcastle City Hall.

Rod said: “It’s wonderful to be back and rehearsals have gone really well.  There’s a great mood in the camp and I can’t wait to get on stage with the lads.

“The Masham gig is an up, close and intimate type of show which will be great preparation for some of the bigger shows we are doing over the summer.”

Following the Masham event the band will play Folk on the Pier at Cromer in Norfolk which has already sold out before hooking up with Status Quo for a support slot on May 15th at the Bluebell venue near Bridlington. This will be the first time the two veteran bands have played together since they shared the bill with Slade on a tour of Australia in 1973.

The band then head back to the North East for a huge home-coming show at Newcastle Racecourse on June 6.

The Masham set will feature all of the hits from Lindisfarne’s  back catalogue including the breakthrough single ‘Meet Me On The Corner’ (penned by the newly-returned Rod Clements), ‘Lady Eleanor’ and ‘Run For Home’ (all Top 10 hits) as well as classic anthems ‘We Can Swing Together’ and ‘Fog On The Tyne’. The band’s biggest chart success came with the ‘Fog on the Tyne’ album which reached number one and became the biggest-selling UK album of 1972.

As an extra bonus this Sunday the line-up will feature fiddle player Tom Leary.

Only a limited number of tickets remain for the bank holiday weekend show which are available from the town hall box office (01765 680 200) priced at £20 or online at www.mashamtownhall.com.

Lindisfarne spin-off The Alan Hull Songbook featuring Dave Hull-Denholm and Ian Thomson also has a slot at the Willowman Festival at Knayton, North Yorkshire which runs June 18 to 21.
