Police responded to reports of a shop theft at the Morrisons / Esso garage on Harrogate Road in Ripont, on the evening of 29 April 2026.
Staff at the garage had secured the premises to prevent the suspect from leaving. Despite their efforts, the man broke glass and exited the shop.
A short time later, officers arrested a suspect nearby. A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of theft and burglary, with enquiries continuing.
