A prolific street beggar, Bradley Grimes, 31, of Wicklow Street, Middlesbrough, has been jailed for six months after breaching the conditions of his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) in Northallerton.

Last Thursday morning, two local PCSOs were on foot patrol in the town centre when they spotted Grimes sitting outside a well-known bakery with a plastic tub lid placed in front of him. A check on the police database confirmed he was in breach of his CBO, which prohibits him from sitting on the floor outside any food outlet or commercial premises.

He was arrested, charged, and subsequently remanded into custody.

Inspector Rory Sadler from the local neighbourhood policing team said:

Criminal Behaviour Orders are there to protect communities from persistent behaviour. When someone repeatedly ignores warnings, we will take action.

While we remain committed to offering support to individuals facing challenging circumstances, persistent offending and repeated breaches of Criminal Behaviour Orders cannot be ignored. These orders help people feel safe in their neighbourhoods.
