Temporary changes to patient and visitor car parking at Harrogate District Hospital will commence on 12 December with contractors commencing preparatory work on site on the 5 December.

This is phase one of the work to provide car parking, which will replace the spaces lost when the new Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Cancer Unit is being built.

Patient and visitor onsite parking arrangements between December 2011 and June 2012 will be as follows:

Limited car parking in the hospital front car park on Lancaster Park Road with additional parking in the car park off Willaston Crescent and at the Heatherdene site, Lancaster Park Road. Disabled spaces are unaffected.

There will be signage indicating the locations of the car parks and further details can be found on the Trust’s website at www.hdft.nhs.uk

Phase two, the work on the new cancer unit, will commence in June 2012 with completion due June 2013.

Angela Gillett, Deputy Director of Planning said:

There will inevitably be some disruption during the works, but plans have been put in place to ensure that this is kept to a minimum. We are very grateful for the patience of our patients, visitors, neighbours and staff as we go about this major project to build to make cancer services in Harrogate world class.
