Independent brewery, Northern Monk, have released opening weekend details for their new Refectory site in York.
Situated in the heart of the city on Little Stonegate, Northern Monk Refectory York will open its doors on the 24 October 2025 for a weekend of celebratory giveaways, DJs, beer tasting sessions and more.
The new multi-floor site includes three brand-new street food concepts and a 20 tap bar pouring draft and cask beers handpicked from Northern Monk’s internationally renowned range.
To celebrate Refectory York’s opening, Northern Monk will be hosting a grand opening weekend on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 October. Opening at midday on both days, the venue will launch with a massive giveaway with 200 free pints, 200 free slices of pizza and 50 packed Northern Monk goody bags up for grabs each day alongside live DJs, Northern Monk raffle and exclusive beer tasting sessions giving York beer fans a chance to meet the Northern Monk team and discuss the range available inside the new venue.
On Sunday 26 October 2025, the Refectory will be opening at 10AM and debuting a special brunch menu from the site’s three in-house kitchens developed in collaboration with Supamarkets, a new concept from the team behind the likes of Leeds institutions Belgrave Music Hall, Ox Club & House of Fu.
Long-time friends and collaborators with Northern Monk, Supamarkets will be revealing fresh takes on authentic NY style pizza slices and full pies from Yonkers, Japanese-inspired snacks from new House of Fu off-shoot Fu Express and vibrant tacos from Crudo Cantina.
Located within a spacious and historic townhouse, Refectory York boasts a ground floor wall-to-wall bar as well as a snug, tasting room and outdoor space, while the venue’s first floor features a bespoke dining space and three unique resident kitchens.
The award-winning independent brewery’s first ‘Refectory’ opening in seven years, with sister venues in Leeds and Manchester; Refectory York follows Northern Monk’s hugely successful crowdfunding campaign to support its intention to become Europe’s biggest craft brewery by the end of 2035, with plans for further Refectory sites already in the works.
