Four people have been arrested following a firearm being discharged at a parked vehicle in Tang Hall on Saturday night (7 March 2026).
The incident occurred at around 9.25pm. CCTV footage shows a suspect firing a weapon towards a stationary vehicle before fleeing from the scene on foot. No injuries were reported.
Extensive searches have been carried out over the past few days to locate the suspect and anyone connected to the incident. These searches, focused predominantly in and around York, have included the deployment of our specialist armed firearms officers.
The following three arrests have been made as part of the investigation:
- 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a certificate and criminal damage
- 34‑year‑old man on suspicion of possession of a firearm and criminal damage.
- 32‑year‑old man on suspicion of possession of a firearm.
- 29‑year‑old woman on suspicion of assisting an offender.
All three have been released on bail while enquiries continue. One suspect remains outstanding.
Police investigation continues, and they are appealing for witnesses to come forward and those with any relevant recorded footage who have not yet assisted the police.
