Thirsk car window smash appeal: Can you help identify three people in CCTV images?

11 July 2017

Police in Thirsk are appealing for help to identify three people in connection with a criminal damage investigation.

At around 4.10am on Monday 12 June 2017, a rock was thrown through the driver’s window of green Ford Ka parked on Chapel Street.

The main suspect is a man caught on CCTV who appears to have come from the Castlegate direction. He ran from the scene following the incident. He was wearing a dark hooded top, tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

It is believed he may have been in the company of a man and a woman who were also seen on CCTV at around the same time.

The man was dressed in a black jacket, black tracksuit bottoms and was wearing a light-coloured baseball cap.

The woman has shoulder-length, light-coloured hair and she was wearing a red zip-up jacket, leggings and was carrying a dark-coloured handbag.

PC Matthew Balmforth, who is leading the investigation, said: We have carried out detailed enquiries into this incident including searches, forensic examinations, house-to-house enquiries and a trawl through CCTV in the area.

We hope the CCTV images that were captured on Chapel Street during the early hours of Monday 12th of June will help to identify the three people who we need to speak to in connection with the investigation.

If you can help, please come forward to the police as soon as possible. Or if you would prefer to remain anonymous, please do the right thing and pass information to Crimestoppers.

This type of behaviour is clearly unacceptable and we are doing everything we can to seek justice for the owners of the damaged car.
