Two weeks remaining to have your say on fracking in the region

1 April 2014

Residents and organisations across North Yorkshire, the North York Moors National Park and the City of York are reminded that there are only two weeks left to have their say on new planning policies covering major issues such as quarrying, mineral and gas extraction and waste disposal.

The current consultation on the Minerals and Waste Joint Plan closes on Friday 11 April 2014.

The Joint Plan will contain new policies and guidelines to help take decisions on planning applications covering the period to 2030. At this stage, Issues and Options, the authorities are asking for views on whether we’ve identified the right issues, as well as options for new policies to address these. The consultation also seeks views on possible new locations for minerals and waste development in the area

Details about the consultation and how to submit comments are available on the Joint Plan website at www.northyorks.gov.uk/mwconsult and paper copies of the main consultation document are available to view in all libraries in the Plan area, in the main offices of the three authorities, in district and borough council offices and in the National Park Visitor Centres.

Following this consultation, all comments will be taken into account in producing a draft plan which will be subject to a further round of consultation later this year. Comments should be submitted by 5pm on Friday 11 April 2014.
