Car fails to stop after 17-year old receives head injuries

A 17-year-old boy received head injuries after a collision involving a grey Seat Arosa, which did not stop at the scene.

It occurred at 4.25pm on Wednesday 4 December 2013, near the Empress roundabout on Skipton Road.

The driver of the Seat contacted the police a short time after the incident.

As a result of the collision the pedestrian suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Harrogate Hospital, where he remains under observation.

Traffic Sergeant Hamish Halloway, of the Force’s Roads Policing Group, said:

If you witnessed the collision and have not yet contacted the police, I urge you to do so straight away.

I am also keen to speak to anyone who saw the boy or car just prior to the incident and ask them to get in touch.
