The three occupants were arrested on suspicion of going equipped for burglary and taken into custody for questioning.

One man is from Leeds and is aged 24, one is from Bradford aged 26, and one is from Harrogate aged 23.

All three have been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.

Chief Inspector Ian Thompson of Harrogate Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

These arrests came following officers’ concern for the manner of driving of the vehicle, but demonstrates how the police are working round the clock to disrupt potential criminality and keep our communities safe.

The case also highlights the invaluable input from our volunteer officers in the Special Constabulary and the vital role they play in the police service.

Members of the public can also help the police in the fight against crime by providing valuable information about suspicious people or vehicles in their neighbourhood. Or, as in this case, the manner of driving of a vehicle.
