Police seek man who helped at scene of Skipton fatal Motorcyclist incident

TrafficPolice are appealing for witnesses and a man who offered help, after a motorcyclist was killed in a road traffic collision on the A65 at Skipton.

The motorcyclist, a 49-year-old man from Trawden, Lancashire, was seriously injured in the collision, which occurred at around 9.20pm on Wednesday 1 May 2013.

His blue motorbike collided with a grey Hyundai car at the junction with the A6131 Knaresborough Road.

The motorcyclist was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he was sadly pronounced dead.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle prior to the incident to come forward with information.

Officers are also trying to trace a man who stopped at the scene of the collision and used a fire extinguisher after the motorcycle had burst into flames.

The man left without leaving his details and it is believed he may have information that can help police with their investigation.

Traffic Sergeant Pete Stringer, of Skipton Roads Policing Group, said:

It is important that the man who helped at the scene comes forward as he could be a key witness.

I urge him and anyone else who can help with our enquiries to make contact with the police as soon as possible.
