Police renew appeal following fatal collision near Harrogate

14 March 2012

PolicePolice are appealing for a key witness to come forward following a fatal road traffic collision near Harrogate.

It occurred at around 9.45am on Thursday 23 February 2012, on Hirst Road between Birstwith and Hampsthwaite. The collision involved a blue Peugeot 206 which was heading from Birstwith towards Hampsthwaite.

It is believed that a 4×4 type vehicle, towing an animal trailer, was travelling on the road at the same time of the collision.

Traffic Sergeant Trevor Burton, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said:

I am urging the driver of the 4×4 to come forward. There is nothing to suggest that they were involved in the collision, I simply need to speak with them as a vital witness to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Anyone who can help with this enquiry is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101. Press option 2 and ask for Trevor Burton.
