The Knox take being dog friendly one-beer further

20 December 2018

The knox pub has added to their selection of beers, with something special for our furry friends.

Simon and Katie Swannie took over the pub, in Bilton area of Harrogate, two and half years ago. They had the aim of making it a true community pub – an aim that they can justly being proud of having met.

The pub continues to develop and has previously become fully dog-friendly, but has now started selling a beer just for dogs.  It’s a special dog beer, brewed just for dogs and is alcohol free.

When we took over the business we initially didn’t allow dogs, but soon realised that wasn’t really the right thing to do.

Myself and Katie are both dog-lovers and know how much he is part of our family and comes along with us whenever possible.

We decided to change and allow dogs just in the back bar and have now made the whole pub dog friendly.

I know not everyone likes dogs, so we have talked to our customers.

We had one gentleman that was really not keen on dogs, but said that he realised that the dogs in the pub were well behaved and kept themselves to them selves.

Katie and Simon’s dog Lexi, certainly enjoys the beer though!
