Tadcaster Albion 0 – Harrogate Town 5

25 July 2012

Harrogate Town FCHarrogate gained their first pre-season victory with a comprehensive win over Tadcaster.

The game was just 11 minutes old when Craig Radcliffe won the ball in midfield, found Alex Meechan, whose through ball was expertly brought down by Paul Beesley before he shot past Scott Pallister in the home goal.

Six minutes later Beesley doubled Town’s lead with a speculative 20 yarder which crept in past Pallister.

On a sweltering evening Town made six changes and on 50 minutes Rob Youhill, who had replaced Chib Chilaka at the break, picked up a loose ball in midfield and raced through an open defence to blast home past replacement keeper Leon Wrigglesworth.

Five minutes later,Albion were given a chance to get back into the game when Town conceded a penalty, but Danny Grey ballooned the ball well over the bar.

Town were well in control and on 69 minutes Youhill chased a long ball down the left wing and curled a shot from the touchline over the stranded Wrigglesworth to make it four.

Harrogate brought on U/19 player Josh Garbutt to replace Meechan and he completed the scoring with a quarter of an hour left when he was played in by Youhill, and his low drive from the edge of the area beat the static keeper.
