Swinton Park Hotel expansion plans

30 May 2013

Swinton Park Hotel in North Yorkshire announces plans to create 20 full-time jobs with a new spa, health club and brasserie.

Located near Masham in North Yorkshire, the development is set to create at least 20 new, full-time jobs, as well as boost the local economy.

A planning application for the innovative new spa complex is currently with Harrogate Borough Council.

The spa, health club and brasserie will be built in former workshops and garden buildings, which are currently derelict, adjacent to the hotel’s walled garden. Swinton Park intends to create an 18-metre swimming pool, wellness suite, gym and fitness studio, treatment rooms and a garden terrace. There would also be access to walking and fitness trails throughout the 200 acres of landscaped parkland and gardens on the Swinton Estate.

The new facilities will be open to hotel guests, day visitors and club members. Swinton Park has 31 bedrooms as well as a cookery school and is regarded as one of the leading hotels in the north of England.

The owner of Swinton Park, Felicity Cunliffe-Lister, said:

We have been planning a development including a spa for several years and we are now at the point where the hotel needs to provide these facilities in order to maintain its position as market leader. The planned development will enable us to restore the redundant buildings, improve access to the parkland for visitors and help establish the Swinton Estate as a destination for sustainable tourism activities such as fishing, walking, falconry and riding; not forgetting the invaluable jobs that would be created to boost the local economy.

Swinton Park was recognised for its culinary excellence at the VisitEngland Awards last week, when Samuel’s restaurant was awarded Gold in the Taste of England Award category. The Gold Award is the highest award, whichVisitEngland can bestow, for excellence in tourism in England.
