Yorkshire will host Scotland’s fastest growing event for gin distillers on Sunday 6th May 2018.

The Gin Fayre is expanding across the North of England and will take place at Wetherby Town Hall, during May bank holiday weekend this year.

Between the hours of 12pm and 8pm, visitors will enjoy a selection of the finest distilleries from across the world, alongside masterclasses, cocktails, goody bags and free samples.

Having successfully launched in February 2017, The Gin Fayre has already hosted five sell-out events across Scotland and has added a further eleven events to the diary in 2018.

The Gin Fayre in Wetherby will be home to a variety of gin brands from across the Yorkshire region, including Cooper King Distillery, Greystone Gin from The Harewood Food & Drink Project, Raisthorpe Manor and brands from further afield, including Ink Gin from Australia.

Founder of The Gin Fayre, Jasmine Wheelhouse, explains:

My heart and roots have always been in Yorkshire, which is why we’ve decided to bring the event to three locations in the county, starting with Wetherby. With the exception of studying in Scotland and a very brief stint working in London, I have lived in Leeds all my life. I am familiar with the area and am delighted to bring The Gin Fayre – and our fantastic distillers – a little closer to home!

We have been overwhelmed with The Gin Fayre’s success in Scotland and hope to emulate this in other parts of the UK. The Gin Fayre gives people the opportunity to try before they buy, as well as offer the distillers a direct route to market.

The event was created with people in mind who wanted learn more about what they are drinking, the flavours, varieties and the process of distilling gin, without the price tag of buying numerous bottles from the supermarket.

About Jasmine Wheelhouse, Founder of The Gin Fayre

Yorkshire-based entrepreneur, Jasmine Wheelhouse is the founder of The Gin Fayre and the events thriving success so far. With a background between education and events management, Jasmine took the plunge into entrepreneurship early last year and has seen the business go from strength to strength in eleven months. Despite having made a name for herself in Scotland, Jasmine is now ready to bring The Gin Fayre to her home county.

Jasmine graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2013 with an experience that was much more than academic. In her first year, she set up her first business: an independent publishing company providing careers and educational advice to 14-19 year olds across the UK. Combined with news, reviews, popular culture, advice and celebrity interviews – including Sir Richard Branson, Amir Khan and Ed Sheeran, amongst others – What? Magazine was available online and in print across the UK. In 2012, she set up Very Vintage Events, which, in just over a year grew to be the largest, most sought-after vintage fairs in Scotland.

Jasmine has worked on a number of notable Scottish events, including The Alfred Dunhill Links Championships, Snowdrops by Starlight, StAnza International Poetry Festival, On The Rocks Art Festival and was employed as a Professional Conference Organiser by the University of St Andrews.

After four years working in education, Jasmine realised her passion was events management and followed her heart to do something she really wanted.

Jasmine set up No. 18 Ltd. What began as a pop-up Champagne and Prosecco bar at the Yorkshire Food & Drinks Show in Millenium Square in Leeds, Jasmine has grown the business into two event bars that can be found at food festivals and events all across the country – including The Extraordinary Travelling Gin Company – a converted Rice Horse Trailer serving up some of the finest gins and cocktails from across the globe and is now in the second year of hosting The Gin Fayre.

Jasmine is also part of the Entrepreneurial Spark accelerator programme in Leeds alongside Cooper King Distillery. Cooper King Distillery will be attending The Gin Fayre in May.
