In this year of the Armistice Centenary, Hilary Robinson will tell the story behind Where The Poppies Now Grow – a lovely story that introduces children to life before, during and after the First World War.
Children will discover the power of friendship through the two characters Ben and Ray, who dream of being soldiers as boys and then enlist together. The four year battle is less of an adventure than they expected and but all is well when peace is declared.
Find out also about the role of animals, birds and insects in the first world war too – from cats, elephants to chickens to glow worms and more – they all helped! Hilary Robinson is the award-winning author of over 50 books for children, best known for Mixed Up Fairy Tales.
