The Frazer Theatre Comedy Club is kicking off our year-long “Five Years of Funny” celebration in style, as we hurtle towards November 2019 and the biggest show we’ve ever done to mark our fifth birthday! We take the first step on the road to this enormous show on Friday January 4th with a show custom-made to blow away the January blues, dislodge the last of that New Year’s hangover and launch us into a brand new comedy year!
As always tickets are £10 in advance from the Old Chemist Shop Knaresborough, by calling 07835 927965 or from our online box office at www.frazertheatre.co.uk. Any remaining tickets will be available on the door for £12.
Doors open at 7:30pm and the show starts at 8pm.
The full line-up includes:
Foxdog are like nothing you’ve ever seen before. IT consultants by day, comedians by night, they use their tech-prowess to combine onstage props with augmented reality and characters controlled by the audiences own smartphones. And if only 50% of those words make any sense to you, don’t worry, because not only is their act surprisingly accessible it’s also, crucially, absolutely hilarious. Audiences have descended into a form of mass hysteria as they attempt to move a remote controlled monorail or fire a sausage into a waiting frying pan. An elusive pair, hardly ever performing outside of their native Manchester, we’ve worked extra-hard to bring Foxdog to Knaresborough for the first time. You really don’t want to miss this!
Award-winning, stand-up comedian and Hull local, Jack Gleadow, is one of the most unique performers on the UK comedy circuit today. He takes his inspiration from the golden era of variety; Jack is the One-Man Variety Show with the use of sounds, stories, jokes and a scooter! In the words of Leicester Comedy Festival, after winning the prestigious 2018 Leicester Mercury Comedian of The Year award, “Jack bowled over the judges with his quirky set; a delightful blend of audience participation, wordplay and physical comedy.”
Hannah Platt lists Daria from the titular 90s MTV show as one of her inspirations, giving you some indication of the kind of misanthropic comedy that spouts forth from this diminutive Merseysider whenever she even slightly opens her mouth. What you might not be expecting is just how dark a lens Platt sees the world through. With a monotone drone she perfectly captures a disaffected youth and a world-weariness that is far beyond her 24 years. Marked out as one to watch for the future, you can tell everybody you saw her here first!
A constant favourite here at the Frazer, Brennan continues to go from strength to strength, having recently appeared for the first time on the extremely prestigious “Live at The Apollo” on BBC1. Always endearingly cheeky but with a a butter-wouldn’t-melt face, Brennan is the perfect MC for this extremely eclectic evening of comedy.
Brennan also returns on March 22nd with his nationwide tour “Evermore”.
