A concert bringing together the musical talents of Knaresborough Silver Band and All Together Now community choir is set to raise the roof for a local Harrogate charity.
‘Our Kind of Music’ will be a celebration of song from the two local groups, raising money towards the work of the Harrogate Easier Living Project (HELP). Taking place at Harrogate High School on Friday 10th May, the evening will feature modern and traditional tunes from award winning Knaresborough Silver Band while the choir will sing songs from the 1960s to the present day.
Kindly supported by CNG Ltd, the event will also include a raffle and Gift Tree with donations from local businesses. All the funds raised will support HELP’s work tackling loneliness and social isolation and enabling people to continue living independently across the district.
Lizzie Hughes, Project Development Worker for HELP, said:
We are thrilled to be working with two talented musical groups from our local community. Knaresborough Silver Band can trace its roots back over 150 years whilst All Together Now was launched just three years ago to enable anyone to enjoy singing.
What the two groups have in common is a passion for sharing their love of music and supporting their local community.
The Band and choir have previously performed together on Knaresborough Waterside at Christmas so we’re delighted to be bringing them together once again for this concert.
CNG Ltd is the UK’s largest independent shipper of gas and employs over 200 people at their Victoria Avenue headquarters. Lizzie added: “As a leading business in Harrogate, CNG pride themselves on doing all they can to support charities and the local community. We are delighted to have them on board with this event and know that, with their support, we can make this event a fantastic fundraiser for our small charity.”
In 2018, HELP improved the lives of more than 900 people across the district. The Help at Home team carried out 355 gardening, decorating and DIY jobs for people who can’t manage the tasks themselves and our volunteer drivers helped tackle social isolation by providing over 10,000 journeys for local people who cannot access public transport due to mobility, cost or location. The charity has over 100 volunteers helping to deliver its services and relies on community fundraising to continue its work.
Tickets for ‘Our Kind of Music’ are £8 for adults and £2 for children and can be booked by calling the HELP office on 01423 813090 or by visiting ourkindofmusic.eventbrite.co.uk
