Harrogate accountancy firm DSC has teamed up with Berwins Solicitors for its next free business networking breakfast which tackles the hot topic of the office party.

DSC Director John Garbutt said the festive season could throw up all sorts of issues for employers.

John said:

Just as employers are responsible for the protection and safety of staff within the confines of the workplace, so these rules apply at the work party and it’s essential to be aware of the rules and regulations around entertaining your staff, suppliers and clients.

As a leading firm of chartered accountants and registered auditors based in Harrogate and , we will also inevitably be making mention of the tax and VAT consequence of the Christmas party and any seasonal gifts you might be considering for the team.

John will be joined by HR and Employment Lawyer and head of Berwins Solicitors’ industry rated Employment Practice, Mike Patterson who will explain what employers need to know, what can happen if the party goes wrong and take a look at some interesting legal case studies.

Mike said:

Due to the fact that a company can be liable for what happens at a Christmas party, it’s important that employers understand their obligations and employees know what is expected of them. As we’ll discuss, putting some simple measures in place can ensure your party is a success, without the post party hangover and bah humbug!

The breakfast, networking and knowledge event will be held on Friday 10th and repeated on Friday 24th November 2017 at 8am at The Old Swan Hotel, Harrogate. Each event is FREE but places must be booked in advance. Breakfast will be available beforehand and the session will finish no later than 10am.

To book your free place email e.roach@dscca.com or call Ellie on 01423 560547.
