The Ripon Amateur Operatics Hall
This legendary band to perform in intimate one-off show on Saturday 8 Sept 2018
70’s PSYCHEDELIC SPACE ROCK legends ‘Here And Now’ are scheduled to play a one-off gig in Ripon’s intimate Amateur Operatics Hall.
These festival favourites travel to North Yorkshire after various other appearances around the country including the Sonic Rock Solstice Festival in what is described by local music fans as a very exciting gig to take place in the Cathedral City.
Here and Now are a 5 piece band, including original member Keith “the Bass” on Bass / Vocals, Mark Robson – Keyboards / Vocals, Andy Burrows – Guitars, Andy Roid – Synths / Vocals and Gem Quinn – Drums.
The band play a mixture of much loved tracks from their back catalogue of albums such as Give And Take, Live Floating Anarchy ‘77 (release under the name Planet Gong with members of Gong) & Fantasy Shift as well as ever evolving new material.
They were pioneers in the free festival movement in the ‘70s, playing at such places as the Watchfield Festival, the Stonehenge Free Festival on midsummer solstice, Glastonbury, as well as a more recent appearance at the Willowman Festival in North Yorkshire.
The Ripon RAOH will be the smallest and most intimate venue they have played at, which will make for a completely unique experience, although it isn’t the first time the band have appeared in the city, playing at the Ripon Racecourse Rock Festival in 1984.
The gig is the brainchild of local promoter Justin Joyce, who has followed the band for many years since coming across their music in the 1970s. Justin is also involved in the running of the popular monthly local music night for vinyl enthusiasts RPMs, held in Ripon.
Joyce said: “I never thought it would be possible to bring such an influential band to Ripon. Here And Now represent an unforgettable era for a generation and over 40 years on they sound just as good as ever. The night promises to be one that goes down in local music folklore.”
Tickets are still on sale for the show at £16 plus booking fee from here: http://www.wegottickets. com/event/438037
Venue opens at 7.00 featuring support from local RPM Djs.
Locally brewed Rooster beers on sale on the night from fully licenced bar.
