Fatal motorcycle collision – A661 between Plompton and Kirk Deighton

Police are appealing for wintesses following a fatal collision on the A661 between Plompton Rocks and the Kirk Deighton junction in the Knaresborough area.

The collision occurred at around 3.30pm today, Tuesday 19 April, and involved three vehicles, a black Ford Ka, a black Vauxhall Corsa and a black Kawasaki motorcycle.

The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 50s, was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries, where he sadly died.

The driver of the Ford Ka sustained minor injuries and the driver of the Corsa was uninjured.

The motorcycle was travelling towards Harrogate and the two cars were travelling in the opposite direction.

The road was closed to allow collision investigators to examine the scene, it was reopened at around 6.30pm.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw any of the vehicles prior to the collision, or anyone who witnessed the crash, to contact them.
