Sun, Sea and Smuggling

The North Yorkshire coast offers some of England’s most beautiful coastlines and even lays claim to the world’s first seaside resort in Scarborough. With miles of sea, sand and stunning views surrounded by the quaint and quintessentially English seaside towns of Whitby and Filey, a drive out to the east coast is a must.

If all that sounds a little tame, then why not head to Robin Hoods Bay and join ‘Old Slack Mouth’ to explore the old smuggling trail. Enjoy the secret history of the area as you follow the cobbled streets and underground passages that real pirates used in days gone by.

A Day in the Dales

Established as a national park in 1954 and covering an area of 680 square miles, the Yorkshire Dales are internationally renowned as a place of exceptional natural beauty. To the north of the park you will find striking rock formations lining the stepped valleys, to the south extensive limestone caves and crags and to the west lie the Howgils, a series of rounded grassy hills markedly different to the rest of the park. With so much to see it can be difficult to decide where to go but the 180 meter drop of Cautley Spout waterfall is sure to inspire and any one of the many hiking trails will offer you a unique and changeable landscape.

With its many varied attractions, North Yorkshire is sure to inspire and delight the whole family, so why not hire a car and enjoy this wonderful part of England with all the convenience and freedom you desire. Perfect for those arriving by plane, train or coach, the best way to appreciate North Yorkshire’s idyllic rural landscape is from the comfort of your own hire car. Save money on public transport and explore remote parts of the county that would otherwise be inaccessible whilst giving your family, whether small or large, a relaxed, comfortable and, most importantly, safe summer holiday.
