Parking ticket machine stolen in Ripon

13 November 2012

A pay and display parking ticket machine was stolen from the St Marygate car park in Ripon, overnight between Sunday 4 November and Monday 5 November 2012, when thieves ripped the machine, valued at around £5,000, from its concrete base.

It is likley that a group of people will have carried out the theft and used a vehicle to remove the machine due to its weight.

PC Leah Champion, of Ripon Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

If you were in the area of the St Marygate car park and witnessed any suspicious activity I urge you to come forward and contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.

I also need to speak to anyone who may have seen people paying unusual attention to pay and display machines in the days prior to the theft.

I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who knows where the machine is now and ask them to get in touch.

Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is asked to contact Ripon police on 101, press option 2 and ask for Leah Champion. Alternatively information can be emailed to leah.champion@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number 12120187485.
