Don’t travel advise Police following 50 ongoing flood incidents

Markington FloodsThe North Yorkshire Police have advised (24 Sept 2012 22:00) that there are over 50 ongoing incidents across the whole of North Yorkshire related to flooded roads.

A Police spokesperson said:

They are requesting that people travel only if absolutely necessary.

Catterick and Richmond are particularly affected by flooding with several roads closed.

In some areas it is impossible to travel anywhere.

We would urge the public not to use their personal vehicles.

Further to this man hole covers are missing in some areas, so there is a danger to pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and other vehicles until the Highways Agency can rectify the situation.

Updated 24 Sept 12 @ 23:44 – A1 closed at Catterick, both directions with a diversion in place. Due to flooding.
