9 August 2022

You can’t miss the big red Festival bus as it makes its way around Harrogate on Friday 12 August, filled to the brim with performers from many fabulous shows that will be happening in the Royal Hall from 10-21 August.

Friday 12 August 2022, from 12:30

There is something for everyone, from Grand Duke to Gondoliers and Pirates to Patience. Not only is it such a lot of fun, but Sullivan’s music, played by the outstanding National Festival Orchestra, is sublime.

And you can hear and see us as we make our way around the town.

The acclaimed National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company will perform three new productions – the all-time favourite, The Pirates of Penzance, the rarely performed Utopia Limited and

Iolanthe. There is a hilarious performance of Opera della Luna’s HMS Pinafore, and Charles Court Opera bring their award-winning Patience. Forbear! Theatre will perform a brand-new production of The Gondoliers.

Top-notch amateur groups competing for the prestigious festival awards include Bus Pass Opera’s production of Princess Ida. All the Bus Pass performers are over the age of sixty! Their last production in 2019 had a combined age of over 2000 years, and it was outstanding! SavoyNet Performing Group brings The Grand Duke, and Brussels Light Opera Company will perform The Pirates of Penzance.

Running alongside the Festival is a jam-packed fringe programme including talks, concerts and fully staged university productions.

So, get on board and book your tickets today. The Gilbert & Sullivan Festival is fun, it’s friendly, and it’s just what everyone needs right now.

Visitors can pick up a What’s On Guide at the Tourist Information Desk or come along to our specially-themed Utopia Pavilion in the exhibition hall immediately on the left-hand side of the Royal Hall. More information is available at www.gsfestivals.org
