Selby robbery – police seek vital witness

Police in Selby are appealing for a vital witness to come forward following a robbery in the town.

The man spoke with the victim following the incident, which occurred at 9.20pm on Tuesday 14 June on Byram Park Road when the victim had delivered a pizza. When he returned to his car, two man dragged him from the vehicle stealing his mobile phone and money.

As a result of the incident the 38-year-old man from Knottingley received bruising to his face and his clothing was torn.

The witness approached the victim and told him that he had seen the robbery taking place. He said that his name was Alan and that he lived locally.

Police are appealing him to come forward along with anyone else who may have witnessed the incident.

The first suspect is described as white, around 5ft 10in tall with a medium build and aged in his mid 20s. His hair was close cropped and may be light brown. He has a number of tattoos on his arms and a tear drop tattoo on his face. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a grey t-shirt.

The only description of the second suspect is that he is white.

Detective Constable Lee Maeer, of Selby CID, said: “We have made house to house enquiries on Byram Park Road but have so far been unable to trace the man who spoke to victim.

“The robbery naturally left the victim shaken and it is possible that he may not remember the witness’s details correctly.

“I am asking that “Alan” or anyone who can identify him, contacts me straight away as he is clearly a vital witness and may be able to help identify the robbers.
