Road users will benefit from an extensive programme of resurfacing work that is being carried out on four major routes in Harrogate during the next month.

North Yorkshire County Council’s highways teams will carry out the improvements on Claro Road, Ainsty Road, Devonshire Place and Coach Road from Sunday, July 24, with the work expected to last for three weeks.

Resurfacing will be carried out on the following dates and locations:

  • 24 July 24, 31 July and 7 August on Claro Road under a road closure from 7.30am to 11.30pm.
  • 25 July to 28 July on Claro Road under two-way traffic lights from 9am to 4pm.
  • 1 August 1 to 5 August on Claro Road under a road closure from 6.30pm to 11.30pm.
  • 8 August 8 and 9 August on Devonshire Place and Coach Road under a road closure from 7.30am to 6pm.

Ainsty Road will undergo patching work on July 29 under a road closure from 7.30am to 11.30pm, but access will be maintained for residents. Advance warning signs will be installed at all locations and a signed diversion route in place.

North Yorkshire County Council’s executive member for highways and transportation, Cllr Keane Duncan, said:

We are working hard to improve the condition of North Yorkshire’s roads, with an extensive programme of works across the county to improve the condition of our vast network.

The maintenance works on these key Harrogate roads are the latest in our efforts, and I know they will be very much welcome.

Vehicle access to properties on the resurfacing routes may be affected, but pedestrian access will be permitted at all times.
