The best places to relocate that are a close distance to Harrogate

Harrogate is an incredibly popular town and many people want to live in close proximity but at the same time enjoy a more village type environment.   Harrogate is located in the heart of Yorkshire. It is known to be relatively cosmopolitan but at the same time very tranquil.

It is well known for its well-kept parks and gardens and beautiful displays of flowers.  The largest of these gardens is the incredibly beautiful Valley Gardens which gets more than 3 million visitors each year.

Kirkby Overblow

This fabulous village is regarded as one of the best places to live near Harrogate. Kirkby Overblow is south of Harrogate and has excellent and easy routes into Leeds and York and of course into Harrogate which is just a short 15 minutes- drive away.

It has a primary school which is well-regarded, a church and two very popular pubs. If you are looking to purchase a house in the area away from neighbors, you can find homes that are relatively secluded that come with land.  However, there is also the option to purchase period terraced cottages located in the center of the village

Follifoot

The village of Follifoot is also located south of Harrogate and is considered to be a very pretty and peaceful village.    It does offer quite a lot of amenities, making it one of the most desirable villages in the area. It has a a post office, market shop, primary school, two pubs, a village community center and a number of community and sports clubs. The village boasts a very strong sense of community, one of the reasons for its popularity, another is the picturesque homes that can be found in the village.

Pannal

Pannal is located very close to the centre of Harrogate, just two miles to the south. Obviously being so close to Harrogate, Pannal is a very desirable village.  But it also offers many amenities such as a primary school, shops and a church and also a dentist and General Practitioner (GP). It also has its own train station with direct services into Leeds, York and also Knaresborough.   If you are looking to purchase a home in Pannal you would have a wide variety of property types to choose from.  There are new builds, many barn conversions and also older properties from a whole range of eras from which to choose.

Hampsthwaite

Happsthwaite is a lovely village located to the north of Harrogate and is also a village with lots of amenities which makes it a highly sought- after place to live. It has a primary school, pub, village shop and also a wonderful delicatessen.   If you are looking to relocate to this lovely village you will have lots of different kinds of homes from which to choose, including a number of new houses within developments.   There are many period properties in Hampsthwaite for those that prefer older properties but these will be found in the centre of the village.

Birstwith

Birstwith is part of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, located north west of Harrogate. Needless to say, the village is particularly picturesque and therefore a lovely place to live. Its close proximity to Harrogate and the amenities on offer there plus access to the best schools in the area make it very attractive.  However, the village does have many amenities available for those who don’t want to venture into Harrogate.   There are many different types of homes to be found in Birstwith: there are a lot of bungalows in quiet cul-de-sacs, period terrace cottages for those who prefer homes with period features and also many larger detached houses set in their own plots.

Ripley

Ripley is situated directly north of Harrogate, along the A61 main road.  It is another very desirable village, well known for its castle and its popular ice cream store, plus the village’s very strong sense of community.  Many visitors pass through the village and many people look to relocate here.

It boasts a post office, florist and even a farm shop.  There is a wonderful primary school and also a reputable nursery, making it a very attractive for young families.

Being so close to Harrogate and also to Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty makes Ripley extremely popular.  The village itself has remained unspoilt and has retained its quiet charming appeal.  Ripley is on the radar for anyone looking to settle in North Yorkshire.

Burton Leonard

Burton Leonard is a pretty village just a few miles from Harrogate.  Many families are attracted to this village because of its location and the fact that it is within the catchment area of many excellent secondary schools and also because of Ripon Grammar school.   Located in the heart of the village are many period homes, a post office, village shop and of course the very welcoming public house.  The quintessential country village.

There are other villages worth exploring that are located close to Harrogate are Bishop Monkton, Staveley, Scotton, Huby, Burn Bridge and Weeton.
