On the night of 20/21March the history information in Stonefall Park, Harrogate, has been vandalised.

HASAG (Hookstone and Stonefall Action Group) say that it has likely been smashed, with some force, using a rock.

This was researched and built by volunteers and will cost several hundred pounds to replace.

They have reported the incident to the police, but are emailing for any information contact HASAGgroup@outlook.com

Pat Marsh is Chairman and co-founder of a Group called HASAG (Hookstone and Stonefall Action Group).

This is a group of volunteers that help the Council with the care of Hookstone Woods and Stonefall Park, they do a lot of litter picking, Balsalm bashing and laying footpaths.

One of their projects two years ago was to develop and install an information board relating to the history of Stonefall Park. This was opened by the Mayor and representatives of the Council and the local community attended.

Pat Marsh said:

It came as an enormous shock to find that mindless vandals had smashed the board, there are photographs showing the destruction done.

Why would anyone want to do such an act, the Police have been informed and we just hope who ever has done this is brought to justice.

The Board will now require an expensive repair and therefore HASAG will be asking for donations to enable them to put right the damage done.

I am outraged at this behaviour, as will most people.

would hope if anyone has any information that might help to find the culprit that they would contact the local Police.
