Rossett collect food for the Trussell Trust

21 December 2020

The students, led by the school’s designated Charity Prefect Emily Farquhar, have been collecting donations for the Harrogate District Foodbank.

The foodbank is part of a nationwide network supported by The Trussell Trust, which works to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Food items ranging from everyday essentials to festive treats were donated by the Rossett School community, and will be delivered to the foodbank in time for Christmas.

Emily said:

Thank you to everyone who donated to our important appeal. The Trussell Trust and its families need our support this year more than ever, with the pandemic putting huge strains on the charity and greatly decreasing the amount of donations they were receiving.

We wanted to do something to help our community this Christmas, and the foodbank appeal has allowed us to get involved and help make sure everyone in our district can enjoy a Christmas dinner.

Headteacher Helen Woodcock added:

At a time of year when there is such a focus on receiving gifts, we are delighted at the unselflessness and kindness our students have shown during this appeal.
