Recruits of Infantry Training Centre returned back to their unit last week, ahead of the commencement of their post-lockdown training.

The Catterick-Based Unit, which produces future infanteers of the British Army,  have implemented the recent government guidelines on social distancing into the unit, including using cones on the drill square at 2M apart, so that the safety of the trainee soldiers and staff is at the forefront of the return.

ITC Instructor, Lance Sergeant Elms commented that one of the biggest changes the centre has implemented into the training is more outdoor lessons and enforcing the 2m rule.

The unit, which runs four versions of the Combat Infantryman’s Course (Line Infantry, Foot Guards, PARAs and Gurkhas) has run virtual training for the future soldiers during lockdown, an extra level of support and guidance whilst away from their unit.

Recruit, Jack Ryan commented that he used the Defence Learning Environment whilst he was at home to catch up on virtual lessons and Zoom sessions were put into place where recruits could speak to their Sergeants about training.

With the new regulations put in place, the Northern unit will continue to train and produce the finest infanteers of the British Army.
