Ripon Community Link’s fundraising activities rewarded by record sales

17 January 2019

A Ripon charity which hosted a month-long series of festive retailing and fund-raising activities has seen its efforts rewarded with record takings.

Ripon Community Link incorporating Ripon Walled Garden has raised in excess of £7,000 thanks to selling a bumper crop of Christmas trees, Christmas cards, Christmas cakes, puddings and other festive fayre – and hosting a number of festive fundraising activities including a Partnership event with Ripon Museums for a Dickensian coffee morning.

And to boost its environmental credentials, staff and members are now using Christmas trees that it has collected after “Twelfth Night” to make fencing for use in and around the Walled Garden.

Victoria Ashley, Ripon Community Link Chief Executive, said:

I would like to thank everyone who supported us, not just in December, but throughout the entire year.

The month of December is traditionally a very busy one for us and I’m delighted to say takings have totally surpassed our expectations.

The sale of Christmas trees proved particularly impressive and we had to replenish our stocks twice.

And our post-Christmas tree collection and recycling service, for a small donation to the charity, has also proved to be another winner, both helping raise vital funds but having a beneficial environmental impact with the trees being recycled on site for fencing.

Victoria added:

We are very grateful for all support received and look forward to 2019, where we will expand our fundraising activities, continue our popular coffee mornings at the Town Hall and increase the range of plants available on sale at the Walled Garden

These will be run alongside encouraging as many people as possible to visit the Tea Room, all to support our vital work of the charity supporting adults with learning disabilities.

We are organising various events throughout the year and hope to see as many supporters as possible, including at our quiz night, which is taking place on Friday, March. Tickets are available from the Walled Garden on 01765 609229.

The coffee mornings are held on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month and run between begin at 10am and noon.
