Apple Day proves financial windfall for Ripon Community Link

16 October 2018

Ripon Community Link’s annual Apple Day has provided a financial windfall for the city-based charity.

Held at Ripon Walled Garden, where – despite wind and rain – the organisation more than doubled last year’s fundraised income, with receipts to date totalling in excess of £3,300.

Almost 400 visitors who attended Apple Day – including City Mayor Coun Pauline McHardy – had the opportunity to make juice out of their own apples, explore the Victorian orchard, watch entertainment provided by Morris dancers, browse stalls, build dens and decorate biscuits.

Victoria Ashley, Ripon Community Link Chief Executive, said:

We are absolutely delighted with the level of support we received for our Apple Day, particularly as the weather was less than perfect.

Whilst the final total is yet to be confirmed, the figure we have raised so far is double that of last year’s, which is just fantastic.

I would like to thank everyone who made this year’s event the success it was, from the great staff and volunteers through to the service members, their families and the general public.

Like every charity, we rely heavily on donations, and monies raised from days like this enable us to continue the valuable service we provide to disabled people and their families across Ripon.

It was also a golden opportunity for us to show off our Ripon Walled Garden facility, which we are justly proud of.

Apple Day has certainly proved to be a financial windfall for us, and we are now loo

king ahead to our next major fundraising event towards the end of the year.
