Wakefield Ladies 8 – 2 Harrogate Railway Ladies

30 September 2018

Yet again Harrogate Railway Ladies collapsed in the second half of the return match away at Wakefield Ladies, losing a very disappointing 8-3.

The railway ladies were in complete control of this match in the first half Keeping Wakefield mostly in their own half, but the same problem as in the other 3 matches they never put their chances away and this is proving to be very costly.

At half time things were looking good but for some strange reason, that the managers just can’t work out, Railway imploded and within 7 minutes of the restart they conceded 3 times all from individual mistakes at the back.

Wakefield went in for the kill and after 65 minutes the score was 5-0 however the railway ladies tried to make amends, all be it far to late, and on the 67th minute Paige Swales drove in a ferocious shot from the left to make it 6-1, Wakefield duly went to the other end two minutes later to bag their 7th.

Railway still couldn’t capitalise on their attempts on goal missing two more sitting chances from within the penalty box. On the 78th minute Fiona Salter grabbed her first goal for Railway after a good clean cross from Nicola Hadley to make it 7-2 but the scoring never stopped there, with a penalty given for hand ball against Railway, Rocky, Rails keeper made a great save but unfortunately only the Wakefield players responded, and the loose ball was drilled home 8-2. Railway bagged their third goal with a cracking shot at a very tight angle from Jodie Hodgson.

Another very disappointing second half from the team that finished second in the league last year and now find themselves fighting right down at the bottom, a result is desperately needed from the Railway Ladies but only they can help themselves out of this difficult time.
