New Headmistress excited about the new term at Harrogate independent prep school Belmont Grosvenor

Co-educational prep schools Belmont Grosvenor has started the academic year with a new Headmistress at the helm.

Mrs Sophia Ashworth Jones joined the school last week and says she is excited about taking Belmont Grosvenor, and its Magic Tree Nursery, into its next chapter.

Originally from Harrogate, Mrs Ashworth Jones brings a wealth of experience to her new role as Headmistress at BGS, which includes more than 16 years of school headship.

Mrs Ashworth Jones said:

The recent Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection, which rated BGS as both excellent and outstanding, the top grading across the board, is a wonderful platform from which to build.

I hope to bring my experience to enhance what is already here and work with pupils, staff and parents to take this exceptional co-educational prep school forward.

I know how much the children love this school, and am really impressed by the facilities and the amount on offer to keep pupils stimulated and challenged. The benefits of being just moments outside the centre of Harrogate, yet in an area of outstanding natural beauty, makes the situation even more special.

Mrs Ashworth Jones, who is married with three children, two of whom have joined her as pupils at Belmont Grosvenor, has a love of the outdoors and is excited about being back in her beloved Harrogate.

Mrs Ashworth Jones said:

As a family, we are really looking forward to getting out into the Dales. My parents, brother and father-in-law are in Harrogate, and we are all excited about living here again and enjoying a healthy and balanced way of life,” said Mrs Ashworth Jones.

I know from experience that attaining all-round excellence by building a broad and exciting curriculum to achieve outstanding progress for every child is only possible when the children are secure and happy. Young children need to feel safe and appreciated in their setting.

Parents of Prep school children want to be involved in their children’s learning, and their input makes a huge difference to the whole school family, as well as their child’s progress. I will be throwing open the doors and inviting them in as often as possible to share this very special chapter with their child.

Family life is more hectic than ever and parents can feel under enormous pressure to fit everything in. The gifted staff team at BGS is able to cater for the needs, interests and talents of children so that precious time at home can be relaxed and calm for all.

How special to include coding, swimming, theatre studies, gymnastics and more within a school week. No wonder the children and parents at BGS are smiling.
