North Yorkshire sports ground transforms into “mini-Glastonbury” for the weekend

12 June 2018

A North Yorkshire sports ground is set to be transformed into a mini-Glastonbury festival this weekend.

Music fans will descend on the Hillside Rural Activities Park, in Knayton, near Thirsk, for the Willowman Festival which is now in its 9th year.

Firmly established on the festival calendar Willowman attracts music fans from across the UK and Europe.

This year the three-day family friendly festival will be headlined by legendary cult band New Model Army with a full supporting cast including Tyneside’s Smoove & Turrell, Eat Static, Angelic Upstarts, N-Trance.

Real ale fans too are attracted by a wide range of beers and ciders at pub prices supplied by micro-breweries across Yorkshire.

The Secret Sub Rosa Dance Tent will also be making a welcome return with quality curated live dance and electronica alongside exclusive DJ sets and there’s a new and extended children and family area to keep little ones entertained.

Festival director Steve Williams said:

Willowman offers people the full experience in a smaller and safer environment.  We have a great line-up of musicians and we have boosted the children’s entertainment.

As always we will be serving some fantastic ales and all visitors are guaranteed a warm Yorkshire welcome as well as a good dose of fun, friendliness and above all, the great music. We have also been very lucky with the weather in previous years too – what’s not to like!

It’s not too late weekend and day tickets are available on the door or they can be bought online.
