Molly Barrs, fundraising event officer at the cathedral said:

This was the first event of this type for the Cathedral, the idea of turning ‘old art into a new build’ was the aim of the exhibition, to show cased donated works of art for sale and at affordable prices.  I was grateful to Adam Schoon for his expertise in valuing the art. .  The event attracted much publicity and media from all over Yorkshire and beyond.

The free exhibition included internal and external views of the Cathedral, as well as original watercolours and prints. Part of the cathedral’s own collection was also on view, as well as original works of Ripon Cathedral on loan from Newby Hall.

Rob Pointon was the artist in residence, he painted live both inside the cathedral and also around the grounds.  He has produced some stunning original art which will be on show again at this year’s Dean’s Banquet in September when he will once again be painting live during the evening.
